Amabel Holland's London & NorthWestern is based in England & Wales at the beginning of the great Railway Age. In addition to using Amabel's seminal 'leased track' mechanism, it includes the benefits of improved technological developments that characterized railways in the United Kingdom. For 3-5 players for about an hour, one page of clear rules and absent of any luck, this game is quite challenging, as we have come to expect from Amabel's designs. The player with the most money wins the game.
The gameboard shows a map of England, and each player gets 15 cubes to build track. The railroads issue shares, and each round a player can buy technology for their railroad, Determine how much track can be built in the round, buy or lease track, and pay dividends.
The game ends when any stock is valued at $100 or more, any railroad reaches technology level six, or any railroad has built all of its track (cubes).
