Troyes & Rajas of the Ganges Join Team Roll-and-Write

Troyes & Rajas of the Ganges Join Team Roll-and-Write
Board Game: Super-Skill Pinball: 4-Cade
Board Game: Medici: The Dice Game
Whether you're into it or not, the trendiness of roll-and-writes does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon. To keep it fresh, some designers have been introducing clever themes to the genre, such as Geoff Engelstein's pinball-themed roll-and-write Super-Skill Pinball:4-Cade, due out September 30, 2020 from WizKids, while others have leveraged roll-and-write mechanisms to convert their existing games, such as Grail Games' upcoming release of Reiner Knizia's Medici: The Dice Game, which Eric mentioned in an October 2019 post.

Here are two great games that already featured dice but have been reimplemented to cross over to the roll-and-write spectrum in 2020:

Board Game: Troyes
• On October 16, 2020 Pearl Games will release Troyes Dice, designed by Sébastien Dujardin, Xavier Georges, and Alain Orban, the same team that created the original 2010 dice-based worker placement classic Troyes.

Like its predecessor, Troyes Dice features Alexandre Roche's signature Troyes art, while playing in 20-30 minutes with 1-10 players. Here's a brief description from the publisher:
Quote:
Troyes Dice invites you to discover (or rediscover) the history of the city of Troyes during the Middle Ages when society was organized around three orders: the nobles, civilians, and religion. The responsibility of the first order is to protect the land and ensure justice; the responsibility of middle order is the hard work of providing food and goods essential to the life of the entire city; and for the last, the mission is to ensure the awakening of spiritual and cultural development!

Board Game: Troyes Dice

Troyes Dice is a roll-and-write strategy game in which you play a rich Champagne family. It's up to you to seize the best opportunities offered by the dice to leave your mark in the history of the city! Will you get the most fame by fighting events, developing markets, erecting the cathedral, or participating in the construction of prestigious buildings? At the end of the game, the player with the most victory points wins!
Board Game: Rajas of the Ganges
• Before the end of 2020, German publisher HUCH! will release Rajas of the Ganges: The Dice Charmers, a roll-and-write version of 2017's Rajas of the Ganges that is for 2-5 players and that plays in 30-45 minutes, with both of these designs coming from designers Inka and Markus Brand. As with the original game, R&R Games is co-publisher on this title and will release the game in the U.S.

I'll surely miss all the colorful dice in this reimplementation, but it's impressive that the Brands have managed to squeeze the entire game onto such a small sheet of paper. Here's a summary of the game:
Quote:
In Rajas of the Ganges: The Dice Charmers, players use eight symbol dice to develop their province, gather goods, and sell them at the market; win over influential personalities in the palace; and sail up and down the Ganges River.

Board Game: Rajas of the Ganges: The Dice Charmers

As in the original game, you win this race for wealth and fame if you are the first to have your fame marker and your money marker intersect on the two tracks running in opposite directions.
I've enjoyed playing both of these games multiple times, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they translate into roll-and-writes!
