Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Dragon Ball Z Are Coming to the Game Table in 2017
Board Game Publisher: Jasco Games
In the category of "news I overlooked because I'm clueless about video games", a trio of miniatures titles is coming from Jasco Games in 2017 — Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game, Mortal Kombat X: The Miniatures Game, and Dragon Ball Z: The Miniatures Game — with all of these titles being for 2-6 players and all of them using the same "Universal Tactics System", which means that characters from one game can be used in any of the others as well.

Video game reviewer and YouTube personality Joe Vargas is the lead designer of these titles, and he announced them during PAX South in late January 2016. (I was in Germany at Spielwarenmesse at the time. I'll give that as an excuse, too.)

The other designers involved in these projects — which will all be launched on Kickstarter in 2016, with roughly a month between each KS project — are Rob Daviau, Darrell Hardy, Mack Martin, and Kevin Wilson. Vargas noted during his presentation that the games involve deck-building, dice and miniatures, so he wanted to pull together a team that excelled at each aspect of the design. Here are promotional banners of each game from Vargas' PAX South presentation:
