Spielwarenmesse 2014 — Game Previews X: Venezia 2099, Tricky Tracks, Dice Run, Bug Race & 1944: Monty vs. Patton

• Weeks after Spielwarenmesse 2014 — the annual toy and game fair in Nürnberg, Germany — I'm still publishing game preview videos that John K. and I recorded at the show. What's up with that?! Well, a trip to NY Toy Fair 2014 intruded upon my publication plans as has travel in the snowy U.S. northeast where I'm visiting friends following that stop in NYC. No matter — eventually we'll let loose everything in the YouTube BoardGameGeek channel.

For this leg of the video overview, we'll head to France for 1944: Monty vs. Patton - Race to the Rhine, a hybried Euro/wargame due out from designers Jaro Andruszkiewicz and Waldek Gumienny and publisher PHALANX in mid-2014, ideally at UK Games Expo. (Note that the image at above right is not the cover.)

• Gregorio Morales, half of the design team of Morales and Jordi Gené, presented Tricky Tracks, due out in the first half of 2014 from Piatnik.

• Another new release from Piatnik is Leo Colovini's Venezia 2099. This video was the last one we shot after three-and-a-half days at the fair, and while Mariola was surprised to find herself on camera, I think she did a fine job.

• Bug Race comes from the design team of Konnov, Paltsev and Shklyarov and publisher Rightgames LLC, with the game already being available in Russian and coming out in English sometime in 2014.

• Designer/publisher Spartaco Albertarelli released a new edition of his Dice Run through his own KaleidosGames in late 2013. I passed his booth numerous times at Spiel 2013 but failed to stop there. Thankfully I corrected that oversight at the fair — but undoubtedly I missed several games on display there, so I'll have to record something on them another time, and...oh, boy.
