• German publisher Spielworxx published the first two titles in Thomas Spitzer's "coal trilogy" of games, and now Quined Games has released the third title, Haspelknecht, in which the farmer players try to exploit the presence of coal found on their lands.
• The look that Quined adopted for Javier Velásquez's Xanadú still blows me away. I have books like this, frayed and exemplary of a lived life, and I love seeing game boxes that exhibit that same wear, which is the case for several of my card games due to multiple journeys in a coat or backpack. As for the gameplay, well, that's what the video is for.
• Designer Richard Garfield created Magic: The Gathering more than two decades ago, and while that is (and likely will remain) his crowning achievement in the game industry, he's still creating new games, such as the card-drafting game Treasure Hunter from Queen Games.
• Alessandro Zucchini's Liguria serves as a prequel to Queen Games' Fresco, explaining how the paint colors came to the markets of the Ligurian cities so that the frescoes could then be painted, but you don't need to know any of that in order to play the game.
• Time to get your pipes on while racing in Steampunk Rally from Orin Bishop and Roxley Games, which has players drafting machine parts to create vehicles that they then attempt to race across the landscape.
• Mantic Games specializes in miniatures-based games, and Jake Thornton's Dungeon Saga: Dwarf King's Quest has tons of bits in it to show off just what the publisher can do.
