Spiel 2013 Update: Mayfair Games Buys Lookout Games

Spiel 2013 Update: Mayfair Games Buys Lookout Games
Board Game Publisher: Mayfair Games
Board Game Publisher: Lookout Games
As noted on October 8, 2013 on BGGN, U.S. publisher Mayfair Games will distribute the three most recent titles from Lookout GamesCaverna: The Cave Farmers, Bremerhaven and Karnickel — in the U.S., with the games expected to be available in November 2013.

Turns out the relationship between Mayfair and Lookout will be much closer than that as today at Spiel 2013, Mayfair's Larry Roznai announced that Mayfair Games has bought a controlling interest in Lookout Games. In addition to the three titles above, Mayfair will release future Lookout titles as they become available, both future releases yet to be announced and previous releases as licenses expire with other companies. So, yes, at some point in the future Mayfair will release Agricola, Le Havre, Ora et Labora and other Lookout Games titles.

Roznai emphasized that Lookout will continue to be responsible for its own game development and artwork. At the press conference, I asked about Mayfair titles possibly becoming available in German, and Roznai said that's certainly a possibility, mentioning Family Business as a title that might be appropriate for such a release given Lookout's history of card game publications.
