New Game Round-up: Ystari Heads for the (Ant)Hills, Bootleggers Dons a New Pair & Rules for Smash Up
Board Game: Serenissima (Second Edition)
• In a June 20, 2012 news post, Gabriel at Ystari Games talks about attending the "Paris est Ludique!" gaming event on June 23-24 and bringing along Olympos (no surprise there), Serenissima (in prototype form as the published version is due out in July 2012), and Myrmes (a game about ants from newcomer Yoann Levet that Ystari plans to release in October 2012 at Spiel). Here's a short description of that latter game:

Quote:
In Myrmes, originally shown under the name ANTerpryse, players control ant colonies and use their ants to explore the land (leaving pheromones in their wake); harvest "crops" like stone, earth and aphids; fight with other ants; complete requests from the Queen; birth new ants; and otherwise dominate their tiny patch of dirt, all in a quest to score points and prove that they belong at the top of the heap, er, anthill. After three seasons of scrabbling and foraging, each ant colony faces a harsh winter that will test its colonial strength.

For more (possibly incorrect) details on Myrmes, head to the game session described in the link above. Levet and his creation were also featured in Le Dauphiné Libéré in mid-June 2012, with the article noting that Ystari will likely produce a 10,000 copy print run of Myrmes.

Board Game: Bootleggers
• Seth Hiatt from Mayday Games has announced that Mayday will publish a new version of Bootleggers. From the announcement:

Quote:
We will be releasing the updated game in late 2012 or early 2013. We need to thank Ray, Don, Mike and Steve at SDR Games for working with us. We would also like to thank Sean and the team at Eagle Games for working with us as well. They have graciously agreed to provide the original molds for the trucks, copper and influence markers ("the Boys") as well as helping us with the legal mumbo-jumbo required to make this happen. We will be working with Eagle to allow them to distribute the game to their loyal fans and have been very impressed with the kindness by both Eagle and SDR...

We are very excited about all the great extras and upgrades we have tentatively planned for the new release including:

• The 2 double-influence cards
• The 4 blank cards
• Extra variants including a 2-player scenario
• Improved trucks with easier-to-read numbering
• More cash!
• Revised rulebook
• Full set of 6 colored dice for each player with more dice than before

We will be printing more of the double influence and blanks cards with this print run to allow any previous owners to get any replacements they need directly from Mayday.

We are also working on the much anticipated Expansion. This will involve the ending of prohibition and the transition from the speakeasy to higher-end casinos for each player. We will have some other exciting extras/upgrades available that we will announce later.
• Alderac Entertainment Group has posted English rules (PDF) for Paul Peterson's Smash Up, which is due to debut at Gen Con in mid-August 2012.

• On Kickstarter, Valley Games has posted this update on the status of D-Day Dice: "On Wednesday, June 19th the craft landed on U.S. soil. Its contents that are of interest to us are now on a train bound for Atlanta. Anticipated arrival in Atlanta is June 25. Anticipated arrival at warehouse is June 27."
