To the surprise of no one, Queen will publish another expansion for Donald X. Vaccarino's Kingdom Builder. For now, the description of Kingdom Builder: Crossroads – which carries an April 2013 release date – is all too brief, but if you're familiar with the game, then you probably have an idea of what will be in the box:
Whoever builds the most valuable sections and reaches the different cities early will be victorious and the most famous builder in all of Rome.
In the end, whoever collects the most bananas in Banana Party will win the game and be able to host a party of her own...
Collections and other titles coming from Queen in 2013 include:
-----—Edo: Expansion #1, which is due out May 2013 and features components for a fifth player and three modules – Jiin, Tokken, and Ronin – that can be used individually or combined with other modules.
-----—Crysis: The Board Game, now bearing a July 2013 release date and previously covered in this BGGN post from November 2012.
-----—Escape: Quests, the second expansion for Escape: The Curse of the Temple, bearing an August 2013 release date and featuring two new modules – Quest Chambers and Special Chambers – that can be used on their own or mixed-and-matched with other modules.
-----—A new edition of Dirk Henn's Speculation, which he originally published through his own db-Spiele in 1992. This undoubtedly snazzier version of the game is expected to be released in October 2013.
-----—Another October 2013 release is Templar from Jesús Torres Castro, a family game in which players use the special powers of the members of an abbey in order to hide treasures in said abbey.
-----—For the holiday season, yet due out in October 2013 in order to be available at Spiel, Queen Games will have two new large game collections to accompany its Alhambra Big Box. These new collections are Kingdom Builder: Big Box – which will have the KB base game, the Nomads and Crossroads expansions, and the Capitol and Caves mini expansions – and Fresco: Big Box, which will include the Fresco base game and all ten expansion modules. Wait, what? Ten expansion modules? The base game has three; Fresco: Expansion Modules 4, 5 and 6 has, well, expansions 4-6; Fresco: The Scrolls is expansion seven. That leaves expansion modules 8-10, and yes, those modules will be released as a separate expansion in 2013. No details yet on what they'll include, but I'm guessing one of them will be about lead poisoning...
-----—And finally for October 2013 comes...oh, no way. Really! Another one! How is this even possible?!
Yes, designing wunderkind Stefan Feld has yet another big title coming out in 2013, in addition to the already hotly anticipated Bora Bora, Brügge and Rialto. Here's a brief description of Amerigo in order to fuel wild speculation:
A new and innovative mechanism to determine the possible actions by use of the dice tower creates a strategic and tactical game for real gamers.
