New Game Round-up: More Games Coming in 2012, Monkey Replacement & Kickstarted Games Galore
Board Game: Whitewater
• Mayfair Games has announced a February 16, 2012 street date in North America for Fréderic Moyersoen's White Water ($35), which is being released under the company's Funfair brand for introductory board and card games.

• Steve Jackson Games has a Zombie Dice expansion in the offing: Zombie Dice 2: Double Feature, which features three new dice that can be added to the base game in various ways while the overall goal remains the same – eat brains!

• In 2012, Cryptozoic Entertainment plans to release the cooperative card game Locke & Key: The Game, based on the comic book by author Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez.

• Designer Reiner Knizia has released the 1-4 player print-and-play game Domino Sudoku (PDF) via his website Convivium.org.uk. The PDF is available only in German at the moment, but the game page has a summary of game play.

• Queen Games' Rajive Gupta has announced release dates for a few titles, one of which had been mentioned as a Spiel 2011 release and the other two of which had been named but not otherwise put on the calendar (as far as I can recall). Samarkand: Routes to Riches is now planned for February 2012, while both the Fresco Card Game and Thebes Card Game are expected to appear in March/April 2012.

• Swedish publisher Gigantoskop has announced that in the years ahead players will no longer be able to spank the monkey. Well, sure they can – but they can no longer Spank the Monkey Gigantoskop-style as the monkey has died as a result of overenthusiastic, yet completely necessary, spanking in a recent game. Now Gigantoskop is soliciting suggestions on Facebook for other animals to spank, presumably in a future game. I'd prefer a new direction with Wallop the Wallaby or maybe Pound the Panda. Any suggestions?

• Recent Kickstarter projects that might merit a look include Elree Ellis' Islandis: A World of Lucidia (Time Warp Publishing, KS link), Scott Almes' Kings of Air and Steam (Tasty Minstrel Games, KS link), Michael Coe's Rise! from newcomer Crash Games (KS link), and Greg and Brian Powers' Pizza Theory (Gryphon Games, KS link), which includes the option of springing for an advance Anchovy Expansion. (I've always wanted to type those words, yet never had the chance previously. Thanks, Brian and Greg!)
