• Will fortune strike twice for IDW Games and Pandasaurus Games? Those publishers are handling the English version of Masao Suganuma's Machi Koro — although admittedly that game was already a success before those picked up the license — and now they're going to release Suganuma design originally released in Japan by Grounding titled Diamonsters. Here's an overview of the game, which has a U.S. street date of November 15, 2014:

Quote:
In the card game Diamonsters, each player starts the game with an identical hand of cards, each of which has a cartoonish picture of a monster and a value from one to five. Each round one card is dealt from the deck face up. Some monsters are more valuable than others, and some eat the diamonds found on other cards. Players attempt to win the round by playing the highest card in front of them, but cards of equal value cancel out. The winner of each round adds his winning card — plus the face-up card — to his collection of cards won. The first player to collect three cards of the same value or five diamonds wins the game.
• IDW Games and Pandasaurus have also announced an October 30, 2014 street date in the U.S. for Machi Koro: Harbor Expansion and a new printing of Yedo.

• In slightly older news from IDW Games and something I inexplicably didn't post about the time, IDW has signed a deal with John Layman and Rob Guillory, creators of the Chew comic book, for a series of games based on that world. For those not familiar with the comic, the main character is Tony Chu, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration agent "who solves crimes by receiving psychic impressions from comestibles, including people", to quote Wikipedia. From the press release announcing this deal:

Quote:
The Chew game line will feature a smorgasbord of play options from board to card to dice games, each title being a stand-alone experience designed to whet fans' appetites, whether they be a gaming novice or a connoisseur. IDW Games will be tapping top game designing talent to develop each game in the series, and Layman and Guillory will stay involved on the creative side to ensure the look and feel of each game is in line with the highly stylized, quirky world they've created.
The only title announced in this line so far is the Chew Card Game, which has an early 2015 release date and no other details.

Board Game: Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game
• In October 2014, Upper Deck Entertainment will release a Guardians of the Galaxy expansion for Devin Low's Marvel Comics-themed Legendary deck-building game. This small expansion mirrors the format of other small Legendary expansions, with one hundred cards being added to the game through five new heroes, two villains, two villains groups, and a few schemes.

Firefly Dice Game, coming from Upper Deck in November 2014 and detailed by me in an Origins Game Fair write-up in June 2014, now has a page on BGG.

• ACD Distribution lists an August 15, 2014 street date for Donald X. Vaccarino's Temporum and a September 15, 2014 street date for Stephen Glenn's Rattlebones. (Side note: Rio Grande Games' Temporum game page has an errata note that reads "This game is perfect".)

• ACD also notes that it will distribute the Neuroshima Hex! Mephisto (2.0), Sharrash (2.0), and Mississippi (both 2.0 and 3.0) army packs from Portal Games by the end of 2014. (Portal Games is exclusive with ACD in the U.S.)
