New Game Round-up: Laying New Tracks for Trains, Flicking Discs in the Wild West & Shopping for Dinner
Board Game: Reglamentacja: Gra na Kartki
• Designer Karol Madaj has another title forthcoming from Instytut Pamięci Narodowej, one that was created, as is the case with all IPN games to date, as an educational tool to help people learn about Polish history. Reglamentacja: Gra na Kartki (Rationing: The Card Game) is planned as a Polish-only release due out July 22, 2014, but previous IPN releases like Kolejka and 111 have appeared with English rules, so perhaps this one will, too. Here's a rundown of the game:

Quote:
If you decide to play Reglamentacja: Gra na Kartki, a difficult task awaits you. You will be going back to the Communist era during the winter of 1983 to fight for ration cards for meat, sugar and other goods. Your goal is to buy the goods on your shopping list before your guests arrive.

Unfortunately, the goods in stores are rationed, and the number and kind of ration cards distributed rarely corresponds with what you need. Instead those cards might land in the hands of other players. You soon realize that success depends on how clever and smooth you are in exchanging ration cards with players standing in the same queue — but you need to hurry as the clerk will finish her tea in just one minute and start selling the goods.

Reglamentacja: Gra na Kartki includes a richly illustrated booklet that features a historic overview of the last decade of Communism in Poland and the principles of distribution of controlled goods.
I don't know. Having a look at the people who plan to show up for dinner, I might be inclined to "forget" to buy vittles so that I beg off spending time with them.

Board Game: Trains
AEG has at least two expansions for Hisashi Hayashi's Trains in the works for release in 2014, with a map pack due out in July 2014 and an expansion titled "Rising Sun" — featuring both new maps and new cards — due out later in 2014.

• In related news, Filosofia Édition will release Trains in French in 2014.

• And rolling into another item about Filosofia, French game site Gus and Co teases a disc-flicking, team-based game set in the Wild West that includes multiple scenarios such as robbing a bank and saving a kidnapped beauty. Designer Jean-Yves Monpertuis brought the prototype of Pitch in the West, as the game has been called to date, to the game festival at Cannes in 2011. Said Monpertuis in an article on La Montagne, "Publishers often send their troops to test the proposed games in the 'off' area, and word-of-mouth had its effect because I quickly found myself with the world around my stand."

Gus and Co notes that the prototype includes 3D elements such as fences, cacti, barrels, rails, horses and buildings; a mechanical clock; and weapons that you can collect and shoot at one another, but without flicking. (Whether all of those components will end up in the final product is a mystery as designers have been known to be more ambitious than reasonable.) After checking with Filosofia, I'll note that the game's name has not been finalized, and it will be released in both French and English in 2015. (Update, Dec. 8, 2014: This game's final title is Flick 'em Up!, and Pretzel Games will be listed as the publisher of record.)

Board Game Publisher: Moonster Games
• French publisher Moonster Games has unveiled its planned release schedule for 2014, and it differs to some degree from the overview that I received at Spiel 2013:

Minivilles, which is the French version of Masao Suganuma's Machi Koro (May/June 2014)
Minivilles Extension, this being the French Machi Koro Plus (September 2014)
Chosŏn, a sequel to Gary Kim's Koryŏ (October 2014)
—A new version of Yoshihisa Itsubaki's bingo-ish Streams in co-operation with Asmodee (Q3/Q4 2014)
Crossing, a party game co-published with Cocktail Games and Space Cowboys (Q3/Q4 2014)
—An unnamed racing game in co-operation with Bombyx (Q4 2014)
—Kim Satô's RYŪ (Q4 2014)

• U.S. publisher Privateer Press has announced a Q3/Q4 2014 release date for Level 7 [Invasion], a standalone cooperative game from Will Schoonover that follows the events of Level 7 [Escape], Level 7 [Escape]: Lockdown, and Level 7 [Omega Protocol]. Privateer hasn't released details of the gameplay yet — only this teaser video that sets the stage for conditions at the start of play:
