New Game Round-up: Later Omens, Catan in Europe, Tsuro of the Sea & Native-American Dinosaurs

New Game Round-up: Later Omens, Catan in Europe, Tsuro of the Sea & Native-American Dinosaurs
Board Game: Omen: A Reign of War
John Clowdus at Small Box Games has posted an update on the second edition of Omen: A Reign of War, noting that while the publisher paid for printing at the manufacturer's stateside U.S. facility, the manufacturer had instead slotted the cards in for printing in China. That snafu has been solved, with the cards now going to print in the U.S., but as a consequence the release date has slipped from March 2012 to April.

• And as a teaser for what's coming next from Small Box Games, Clowdus posted the following image on Facebook, writing, "Is that a Native American inspired dinosaur? Yes. Yes it is. It's also a brand new card game coming pretty soon."

Board Game: Catan Histories: Merchants of Europe
• In its March 2012 newsletter, Mayfair Games lists a number of titles due out later in the year and while most of them have already been featured at NY Toy Fair, shown in the Mayfair 2012 catalog, or covered in press releases, two titles are new and due out in the latter half of 2012: Clash of Wills: Shilo 1862 and Catan Histories: Merchants of Europe, which is almost certainly an English version of Die Siedler von Catan: Aufbruch der Händler, which German publisher Kosmos released late in 2011. (And Die Siedler von Catan: Aufbruch der Händler, for those who don't know, is essentially Mayfair's Settlers of America: Trails to Rails, but set in Europe and published in German, so now the circle would be complete – unless I'm wrong and this is something else entirely.)

• As a companion piece for Rodney Thompson's designer diary on Lords of Waterdeep, you can check out his eight-minute video explanation of the game.

• Stronghold Games has opened preorders for the release of Lost Temple and Revolver in the U.S., with the games due to hit the market in April 2012.

Calliope Games has shipped Double Double Dominoes and Ugh! to distributors, so those titles will be available in a few weeks at retailers. Calliope has also announced a spin-off game titled Tsuro of the Sea, with players "sailing" across the game board and trying not to fall off the edge of the world (as in the original Tsuro game), while also needing to avoid sea monsters and dragons that start on the game board and move based on a die roll.
