-----—But Wait, There’s More!, a product-pitching game first available on a print-and-play basis, but now forthcoming from Toy Vault and set in the Monty Python universe. Writes Cormier, "How crazy is that? Very exciting to be a part of the Python world!!"
-----—Tortuga, a pirate-themed game shown at BGG.CON 2012 under the name "Swashbucklers" is coming from Queen Games. Cormier describes this title as "a simultaneous roll and assign your dice game about finding and stealing treasure from other pirates".
-----—Akrotiri, a two-player, tile-laying strategy game from Z-Man Games with, according to Cormier, "a pretty nifty mechanic where you have maps that tell you where temples are hidden – even though the map is different every time you play!"
Cormier even mentions two forthcoming titles in which the contracts are still in the works. Bold move, Jay! One title is Pop Goes the Weasel, a children's game possibly coming from R&R Games (fingers crossed!) in which players roll two dice, then choose one for movement and the other to grab mullberries. The other title is a microgame from Tasty Minstrel Games — This Town Ain't Big Enough — with players trying to claim land in town via 25 cowboy tiles.
• To continue with announcements of future releases that lack much information, Sébastien Dujardin from Pearl Games posted an image on Facebook of L'Auberge Rouge (The Red Inn), which he describes as something due out in 2014. His description, if I'm translating correctly: "A beautiful hand of killers and priests in the second half of the game. It's expensive, but it pays off!" That's all the clues you have for now, game detectives.
• In the category of "slightly more information than a mere picture", we have Abluxxen, a card game from Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling being published by Ravensburger. Here's a taste of what's going on in the game:
What's more, I'll be in both Nürnberg and New York City to record game preview videos at these conventions. Feel free to suggest other games to add to this GeekList preview via email (wericmartin AT gmail.com), and if you want to arrange a time to meet for a preview in person, please write to me at the same address.
