New Flight Plan Coming for Memoir '44 in May 2019
Board Game: Memoir '44: New Flight Plan
Games these days seem to hit the market, then vanish from the shelves (and players' minds) before the turn of a season, so let's take a moment to marvel at Richard Borg's Memoir '44, which debuted in 2004 — the same year that publisher Days of Wonder released Ticket to Ride, another long-lived game series — and which had a new expansion for it announced today.

With the Memoir '44: New Flight Plan expansion, players can deploy air units such as fighters, fighter-bombers and even bombers to support their troops on the battlefield.

Days of Wonder had released Memoir '44: Air Pack in 2007, but New Flight Plan does something different. From the DoW press release:

Quote:
[W]ith its all new set of streamlined rules, Memoir '44: New Flight Plan grants many new tactical options and is compatible with all existing scenarios in all theaters of operation. The expansion also comes with 21 new scenarios and 16 finely-crafted, legendary planes, in impressive sizes, such as the B-17 that measures 72mm by 101mm.

"Air supremacy was historically a key factor in WWII, so I'm quite happy that this new expansion features aircraft figures for each of the major nations," says Richard Borg, designer of Memoir '44. "The main goal with the New Flight Plan air rules was to give players the opportunity to use these new rules with any and all official scenarios they choose. This expansion will change most players' Memoir '44 experience forever."
Memoir '44: New Flight Plan carries a $60/€55 MSRP and is due out in May 2019.
