• Not a game but rather a tool for graphic designers and publishers, Colorblind Vision is an iOS app that lets you view an image in real-time and see it as if you had one of the forms of color-blindness. Are those red and green bits too similar? Now you'll know – ideally before you go to print.
• Protospiel South takes place May 25-27 in Austin, Texas. Amateur game designers, as well as folks with published games to their name, are encouraged to attend because the feedback available at events like this is typically better than anything else available to you.
• Issue #13 of the stylish Dutch game magazine Spel in Zicht – featuring games you've never heard of, games you've most likely heard of, and men changing in a locker room – is now available for download from the publisher's website.
• Totally old news, but Reiner Knizia gave a presentation on "Maximum Impact Game Design" at the 2011 Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) conference in September of that year. The presentation comes across a bit disjointed as he jumps back and forth between jokey interludes and actual information, but it's still interesting. Of particular note, Knizia mentions that Pickomino came out of his efforts to design a "second dice game with worldwide relevance", Yahtzee being the first such dice game. While he might not have met that goal yet - despite Pickomino making its way in front of a huge Facebook audience, he mentions that more than one million copies have been sold. It's a start!
Knizia also participated in an hour-long panel conference on "Modern Board Games" at the same conference along with Terror Bull Games' Andrew Sheerin, Once Upon a Time designer James Wallis, and others.
