In any case, here's an overview of Shinobi WAT-AAH! from designer Théo Rivière, which French publisher Purple Brain Creations released in France in Q1 2014 and which French/U.S. publisher IELLO is releasing in the U.S. in May 2014. (I contacted IELLO today, and the game arrived in its warehouse at the start of this week, so copies should be available in U.S. stores any day now.) For the video averse, here's a description of the game:
As a lord with a thirst for power, in Shinobi WAT-AAH! you plan to place your honorable posterior on the imperial throne. In order to do this, you will appeal to the large clans of ninjas, who will enable you to impose your military strength upon your enemies. To put it simply, your goal is to put a big WAT-AAH! in your enemies' faces!
Shinobi WAT-AAH! includes two game modes:
• Grasshopper Mode lets you get started right away in the art of Shinobi with short games.
• Grand Master Mode trains you over the course of three rounds, leading up to a most surprising final confrontation!
Even though the game has been out only a couple of months in France, Purple Brain Creations has already been developing an expansion for release in 2015, and on TricTrac PBC is running a design competition in which it invites players to submit ideas for the powers of a new boss: King Pig, who runs around with smaller mean pigs who all undoubtedly like to eat candy. I'm just guessing here. Deadline for submissions is May 31, 2014.
