I still plan to record overview videos of some titles, but with recording time at a premium and the flow of new games never ceasing, I thought I'd try something new. Let me know what you think...
To set up Patchwork, arrange the patchwork pieces in a circle, place the large token next to the 2/1 piece, and give each player five buttons as currency.
On a turn, you either buy one of three patches in front of the token -or- you pass to move your time token just ahead of the opponent's token and earn buttons equal to the number of spaces moved. When you buy a patch, you move the large token to the space formerly occupied by that patch.
When you purchase a patch, you place it on your game board in any open space where it fits. Ideally you can fill the board completely, but things rarely work out that way. If you're the first to create a filled 7x7 space, you earn a seven point endgame bonus.
To buy a patch, you pay the button cost to the bank, place it on your board, then advance on the time track a number of spaces equal to what it shows on the patch. If you pass a button on the track, you earn income equal to the number of buttons showing on your game board; if you're the first to pass a 1x1 patch, you claim it and immediately place it on your board.
If you're not ahead of your opponent's marker after your turn, you take another turn. When you reach the center of the time track, you earn income a final time, then take no further actions.
You lose two buttons for each empty space on your personal game board. Whoever then has more buttons wins!
