Insider Black is an advanced standalone edition that builds on the core idea of Insider: uncovering a hidden answer through yes-or-no questions—while one player secretly already knows the solution.

At the start of each round, one player becomes the Game Master and selects a secret keyword. Among the remaining players, one is the Insider, who knows the answer from the beginning and must subtly guide the discussion without revealing their role. All other players ask yes-or-no questions, racing against the sand timer to arrive at the correct answer.

What sets Insider Black apart is the added tension and unpredictability. The game introduces harder theme cards, a shorter time limit, and off-limits question cards that ban entire types of questions, forcing players to rethink how they extract information. With six or more players, a new Follower role can appear—secretly allied with the Insider to help push the group toward the answer.

Once the correct answer is given, the game shifts gears. Players must discuss and decide who they believe the Insider is. If the Insider is identified, they lose; if not, they win by successfully manipulating the group. When combined with the original Insider, Insider Black also supports team battles, where rival teams race to solve the puzzle and expose the opposing Insider first.
