Funny or Die consists double sided cards featuring a funny picture on one side and a caption on the other. Each player has a hand of these cards with the remainder making up the deck. An active player rolls a die which determines both the money wagered on the round and if the round will use pictures, captions, or the player's choice. A card is drawn from the deck for each player, who must then pair it with an opposite card from their hand.
In the voting round, each player has a funny token and a die token with identical backs. Players place a funny token on the funniest pair and a die token on the least funny (players may not vote for themselves). A tie leads to a run-off vote. The tokens are flipped up and the player with the most funny tokens takes the money wagered. The next player then rolls the die for a new round.
When a player loses all their money, the game ends. The player with the most money wins the game.
