Players move along a track on the game board, toward a watering hole. The number of spaces a player moves is determined by the number on the top quiz card at the time of their turn. Animals are placed on spaces along the route, and players may pick up an animal if they land on the animal's space. Players may then move forward or backward one bonus space by correctly answering the animal-related quiz question on their turn. The game ends when a player reaches the watering hole; the player with the most animals at that time wins.
The game includes a gameboard, 36 quiz cards, and 18 African animal playing pieces (included in a clear plastic "spine" tube on the side of the package).
