The Romance of Three Kingdoms takes place in ancient China, the Three Kingdoms era. The goal of the game is to conquer the opponents' capital cities. Unlike other wargames, the number of armies one nation can control is limited to four, providing more compact and brief game play.
The game consists of two phases, internal affairs and battles. Both economy and battles are affected greatly by the ability of staffs and generals. And the key to success is to strategically allocate proper subordinates to best provinces.
There are 129 characters in the Three Kingdoms and 40 castles on the map. The tactics cards are based on Sun Tzu's Art of War and other ancient books. The miniature armies are made of metal. Different scenarios are planned to be available on the web.
