Spires of the Kremlin: The game covers "Operation Typhoon," the Axis attack toward Moscow during October, November and December 1941, together with the Soviet counter offensive through 15 January 1942.
With the appearance of this second game in the series, the opportunity has been taken to add to and improve the basic system, while retaining its playability. The new Combat Results Table better reflects the attritional aspects of combat on the Eastern Front, while certain anomalies arising out of the sequence of play have been eliminated. The opportunity has also been taken to introduce more elegant air and supply systems, which will be functional for the series as a whole. Unit types include bridging, motorcycle infantry, combat engineers, rocket artillery, anti-aircraft units, etc., — as well as the more standard armor, mechanized and infantry units. Supply, weather and terrain all play their part, as do fortifications, strong points (these can be built each turn), air power, artillery, reinforcements and replacements, HQ units and reserves.
