In SIGN, teams compete in fast, chaotic rounds where speed, observation, and subtle communication decide the outcome. The goal is simple but tense: complete a quintet—exactly five cards showing the same symbol in five different colors—before the opposing team does.
At the start of the game, each team secretly agrees on a non-verbal sign. This sign is the team’s only way to signal that a quintet has been completed, but it must be visible, silent, and never involve physical contact. Choosing the right sign—and hiding it in plain sight—is a crucial part of the game.
During a round, all players act simultaneously. Cards are placed face up on the table, and players freely swap cards from their hand with those in the center, one card at a time. Hands must always stay within a strict size limit, forcing constant decisions about what to keep, discard, or reveal. There are no turns—only awareness, quick hands, and sharp eyes.
Whenever the table stalls, the center cards are refreshed, keeping the pressure high and the information shifting. Throughout the chaos, players must track not only their own progress, but also the behavior of opponents. A sudden movement, a suspicious pause, or a familiar gesture may be all the warning you get.
At any moment, a player may call “Sign!” and point to another player. That player’s hand is checked immediately. If a valid quintet is revealed, the caller’s team scores a point. If the accusation is wrong, points are awarded to the opposing team instead. Regardless of success or failure, the round ends instantly.
The game is played over multiple rounds. Teams score points by correctly revealing completed quintets. The game ends when a team reaches the agreed number of points, or when a predetermined number of rounds has been played.
The team with the highest score wins. If teams are tied at the end, the game ends in a draw.
