Samurai (1975)

Abstract strategy game with Japanese warrior chrome (you get little red or black Samurais with swords). You move on a chess like board that has constraints based on matched symbols on the board. As you play, you lose swords then the actual Samurai itself. First one to kill three of the opponent's four Samurais wins.

The French (and possibly Dutch) edition of the game has a different board, the samurai do not have swords and cannot be "killed". Victory comes instead from preventing the opponent from making a legal move.

Both games share the game mechanic that the symbol on the square your opponent ends on determines the first square you must pass over in your turn.
