Vlaada Chvátil Gets Frozen; Czech Games Edition to Distribution Partners: "Let It Go"

Vlaada Chvátil Gets Frozen; Czech Games Edition to Distribution Partners: "Let It Go"
Board Game: Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends
Czech Games Edition has two announcements relating to upcoming releases: one specific to a single release and one that covers everything you'll see from CGE in the future.

To start, CGE plans to release an expansion for Vlaada Chvátil's Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends titled Everfrost at Spiel 2014 in October. Here's a short description of this new faction deck:

Quote:
Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends – Everfrost consists of a new faction for use with the Tash-Kalar: Arena of Legends, a deck of powerful beings that live in the frozen lands of never-ending winter on snow plains, on cold mountains or in palaces of ice.

The new interesting and unique effects of the Everfrost beings (marked by the little snowflake) introduce a new mechanism: frozen effects. Frozen effects do not have to be performed immediately when the being was summoned; instead a player may store them for later and use them at the right moment to gain a tactical advantage.

Board Game Publisher: Czech Games Edition
• The other announcement from CGE relates to all of its titles, past, present and future: "[W]e will now be handling our own distribution for most English-language editions of our board games. Titles that were distributed through Rio Grande Games and Z-Man Games will now be distributed under the CGE logo. We'd like to thank Rio Grande and Z-Man for helping our small, indie company grow so much over the last seven years." (Note that qualifier "most"; I've asked CGE for clarification on which titles won't be distributed by them and whether that will change in the future.)

Board Game: Bunny Bunny Moose Moose
CGE already oversaw the game design, graphic design and development of all of its releases, but now it will also manage the production of all of its titles as well as their promotion and distribution. Thus, Vlaada Chvátil's party game Bunny Bunny Moose Moose — which was released in English, German and Czech by CGE at Spiel 2009, but never picked up for distribution by one of its partners — will now see release in the U.S. and Canada as part of its first shipment of games. "Also in that shipment," according to CGE, "will be Shipyard, Last Will, Dungeon Lords, Dungon Petz, and expansions. More games will be ready by the end of the year [2014], including our newest game, Alchemists, and the anniversary edition of Dungeon Lords", Dungeon Lords: Happy Anniversary.

To bookend the opening announcement, CGE notes that it plans to release a new English-language edition of Tash-Kalar with "higher-quality cardboard, new graphic design, and a lower price". An upgrade pack will be available for those who already own earlier editions of Tash-Kalar. Details about prices and preorders for CGE titles at Spiel 2014 will be announced the week of September 15, 2014.
