• Indonesian publisher Manikmaya Games was a first-time attendee at Spiel, so naturally it was placed in the most obscure location available: Hall 4, which was something of a dead zone in terms of traffic as I'm not sure how many people even knew that Hall 4 was open, but at the same time it was thankfully cool compared to the stale hotness of Hall 1.

• Manikmaya Games also showed two prototypes of future game releases as well as the quick-playing card game MashUp Monsters.
• Another occupant of Hall 4 was Dutch publisher Waterfall Games, which showed off its debut title Spexxx from designers Ruben Dijkstra and Ruurd Lammers.
• Designer Dennis Kirps was serving double-duty at Spiel 2014, working in the PLAYthisONE booth to show off RoboRama while also demoing Canopy Walk, co-designed with Gérard Pierson and published by TF Verlag.
• Beth Heile interviewed Rory O'Connor and Anita Murphy from The Creativty Hub in October 2013 about The Extraordinaires Design Studio, and she got an update about the game/puzzle system at Spiel 2014, along with a brief shot of new additions to the Rory's Story Cubes line.
