The new release is Ride the Rails, a 3-5 player game from designer John Bohrer (under his "Harry Wu" pseudonym) that's a new edition of Rail USA, first released in 2004 by Bohrer's Winsome Games.
Here's an overview of the game's setting and flow:
In Ride the Rails, you will invest in railroad companies, build railway track across the United States, and deliver passengers to as many cities as possible. Each of the six game rounds features three phases:
—Take a Share: Each player must take any one locomotive from the available supply of railroad companies as a share of that railroad.
—Build Railroad Track: Each player may build railroad track in companies of which they own at least one share.
—Ride the Rails: Each player transports a passenger to a city, paying dividends (points) to all shareholders.
Each round, a new railroad company is introduced to the game, and each railroad company has its own special placement rules! Deliver passengers to as many cities as possible to earn the most points. Be cautious in your travels as shareholders of railroads that you use will also earn points!
Ride the Rails retails for US$40, while Ride the Rails: France/Germany has a US$20 MSRP. Capstone Game notes that the currently out-of-stock Irish Gauge will be available again on July 1, 2020 alongside the new release.
