New Game Round-up: Smash Up the Game Genres, A Peek at Realms & Galaxy Trucker Near Docking?
Board Game: Galaxy Trucker: Another Big Expansion
• French website Le Repaire des Jeux has posted a video of designer Vlaada Chvátil at Cannes 2012 explaining what gamers will find in Galaxy Trucker: Another Big Expansion: cylindrical spaceships, level IV spaceships constructed from two boards that can be attacked by the beasts from Space Alert, a support team crew to improve your building efforts before you take flight, and more.

• The Small Box Games release in which a Native American dinosaur will guest-star, as seen in a recent BGG News post, has now been revealed as Tooth & Nail: Factions on the revamped SBG website. Tooth & Nail: Factions is a 2-4 player game featuring six animal factions and artwork by John Ariosa that will be available sometime in 2012.

Filosofia has announced an April 2012 release date for Agricola: Terres d'Élevage, the French version of Lookout Games' Agricola: Die Bauern und das liebe Vieh, the two-player animal husbandry Agricola spin-off game from Uwe Rosenberg.

Board Game: Small World: Realms
Days of Wonder has dropped a small preview of Small World Realms, an expansion for both Small World and Small World Underground due out in June in Europe and in July in North America. The preview shows samples of the terrain tiles and how they fit together.

Rodney Thompson and Peter Lee have yet another designer diary on Wizards.com about Lords of Waterdeep, this time focusing on prototype design and "how the early, simple prototypes evolved into the high-end board game" now on sale.

Board Game: Smash Up
• Paul Peterson's Smash Up, which was unveiled at the GAMA Trade Show in mid-March 2012 after being teased on Twitter, now has a game page up on BGG with details of game play:

Quote:
The "shufflebuilding" game Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience.

During play, Base cards (each with their own difficulties and abilities) are in play. You attempt to have the most power on the Base from your minions when the Base is smashed. Sounds easy? How easy is it when an opponent's Alien-Ninja decides to Beam Up your minions to other Bases - flat out Assassinate them? What about when the Pirate-Dinosaur player Full Sails in and releases King Rex to stomp your minions into the ground, or when the Wizard-Zombies use their Mystic Power to create an Outbreak, suddenly flooding minions onto the Base from the discard pile? Or what if you faced a Zombie-Dinosaur player instead and he created an Outbreak of massive beasts all at once?!?

When a Base is smashed, each player in first, second and third place scores points. Fourth place? Sorry, bro – try harder next time.

With eight different factions, Smash Up includes dozens of combinations to try. Pirate-Aliens play different than Ninja-Aliens, for instance. Which will you use to smash up your opponents?

And did we mention the dinosaurs have laser beams?
• Catan.de now offers a hard-copy version in German of Catan Scenarios: Oil Spring, which has previously been available only in English from Mayfair Games or in PDF format.
