New Game Round-up: Rosenberg Returns to the Moor, Ronin Move to the U.S., and Tyrants Become Epic

New Game Round-up: Rosenberg Returns to the Moor, Ronin Move to the U.S., and Tyrants Become Epic
Board Game: Viticulture: Moor Visitors Expansion
• After working with Uwe Rosenberg on the Viticulture Essential Edition, designer Jamey Stegmaier asked him whether he'd be interested in making a few visitor cards. In Stegmaier's words: "Several days later, Uwe sent me 64 card designs." Those cards have been honed to a set of forty new visitor cards, and the resulting Viticulture: Moor Visitors Expansion will reach distributors in March 2016 after initially being available for preorder in Feb. 2016 through participating retailers.

Emblems is a trick-taking game from Adrian Adamescu and Daryl Andrews that CSE Games plans to release on August 1, 2017. (I thought I had my first entry for the Gen Con 2017 preview, but alas that show takes place Aug. 14-17. Curses!) Here's the summary: "Emblems is a trick-taking and set-collecting card game about grouping country flags. Call out attributes of specific flags and collect as many cards as possible. Earn additional points along the way by using special bonus cards that will boost your total score. The player with the highest score wins." Okay, more detail needed, but all in good time.

Board Game: 7 Ronin
Grey Fox Games has picked up 7 Ronin from Marek Mydel and Piotr Stankiewicz, which Polish publisher Badger's Nest first released in 2013. ACD Distribution notes an April 2016 release date for this title, which plays as follows:

Quote:
7 Ronin is an asymmetric two-player game in which one player controls a group of ninja attacking a village that's defended by seven ronin (masterless samurai), which are controlled by the other player. The ninja player wins by occupying five of the village's ten areas, while the ronin player wins by surviving eight rounds.

Each turn starts with the players distributing their forces over the village areas simultaneously and separately. Their choices are then revealed, and combat resolved. Each of the ronin have a different special ability to aid the defender, while each of the village areas have a special ability usable by the attacker once it has been occupied.
Board Game: Glen More
Board Game: Salem
• What else is coming back to market? Matthias Cramer's Glen More, although the game won't be exactly the same. As Cramer noted on BGG in Dec. 2015 (in one of the many links that I send myself, then overlook for weeks afterward), this new version will feature improved components, include some new mechanisms, be available internationally (which seems kind of a given these days for most U.S. and European releases), and won't be released before 2017 "since the designer is working slow and testing a lot, doing a hell of modifications and driving all involved people to madness".

Joshua Balvin's Salem, which funded on Kickstarter in 2012, is now moving to market in cooperation with U.S. publisher Passport Game Studios, with ACD Distribution anticipating an April 2016 shelf date.

White Wizard Games will release the first release for Epic Card GameTyrants — on March 22, 2016, with the expansion consisting of four non-random booster packs, each containing twelve new game cards and one double-sided game token.
