New Game Round-up: Relive All of Civilization in Historia, Prep for New Pax from Sierra Madre & Goggle at All the Games from Cool Mini
Board Game: Historia
• Italian publisher Giochix.it doesn't shy away from making big games, such as CO₂, Romolo o Remo?, Upon a Salty Ocean and De Vulgari Eloquentia, and for Spiel 2014 in October it plans to release Marco Pranzo's Historia, a design that covers the breadth of human civilization. Take a look at that cover! The Roman Colosseum topped with churches and skyscrapers with rockets and space shuttles flying past to space! If you could work Keyboard Cat into the image somehow, it would all be there. As for the game, here's an overview:

Quote:
History is made by strong leaders and wise advisors, by conquests and discoveries, by wars and trade and amazing wonders. Historia is made by you.

In Historia, the players guide their civilization through 12,000 years of human history, from the first sparks up to the development of Singularity. Civilizations discover new technology and expand over the planet; they trade with more developed neighbors to import new technologies or exploit the land to have more power for future actions. Civilizations develop their military and wage wars with each other. They build wonders to make their civilization stand above others and to eventually attract tourists and newcomers to their land to follow their leaders and use their national advisors.

Historia is a civilization game for 1-5 players that takes 30 minutes per player. A set of action cards is available to the players to guide their civilization, and used actions form a discard queue from which they are taken back into a player's hand during the game. Wars and raids are carried out in a non-disruptive way. When modern times have been reached or the Singularity technology developed, the game ends and the player with the most VPs wins.

A solo Historia variant with A.I. bots is also available.
• The sailing-and-pirates themed miniatures game Ron & Bones from designers Francisco Conde, Gustavo Adolfo Cuadrado and Santos Prieto has been in the BGG database since 2009, but it appears to be finally moving toward publication, with Cool Mini Or Not likely to bring the game to Kickstarter following its current campaign for survival horror miniatures game XenoShyft Onslaught (KS link) and its upcoming campaign for Zombicide Season 3: Rue Morgue, depicted below:

Board Game: Pax Porfiriana
• A sequel/spin-off release of Sierra Madre Games' Pax Porfiriana titled Pax Renaissance is in the works, with co-designer Matt Eklund noting that the game is in deep development. Says Eklund, "Unlikely this is released this year [2014], but keep a look out!" (Follow that Eklund link, and you'll find a Dropbox file featuring an old version of the game.)

• David MacKenzie from Clever Mojo Games notes that Alien Frontiers "Faction Packs 2, 3, and 4 and Booster Packs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 should be heading to the printer this week [i.e., the week of June 9, 2014] along with Alien Frontiers: Outer Belt and the special Outer Belt Preorder Promo Pack."

• The Polish co-operative ghost-hunting title Tajemnicze Domostwo from Portal Games has been released in Ukrainian, Byelorussian and Russian editions with an Italian edition also being in the works. Says co-designer Oleksandr Nevskiy, "[W]e are still awaiting for announcement from our worldwide partner."

• A Gus and Co article highlighting Bruno Cathala's awesome year — Five Tribes, Abyss, Madame Ching, Cyclades: Titans, and more — mentions one new title unfamiliar to me: Dragon Run from Blue Orange, co-designer with Ludovic Barbe with artwork from the always awesome Vincent Dutrait:
