New Game Round-up: Late 2012/Early 2013 Releases from Asmodee, Rules for Star Wars & (Finally) Carcassonne Minis from Rio Grande
Board Game: A Few Acres of Snow
Asmodee has announced a deal with Martin Wallace and Treefrog Games to publish the second edition of A Few Acres of Snow for the U.S. market starting in January 2013 (although Asmodee's November 2012 newsletter actually notes that the game will be available December 19, 2012). No word on whether anything has changed with the rules of the game, although in early Nov. 2012 sometime Treefrog volunteer Christopher Dearlove asked BGG users for rule modifications to AFAOS.

Other titles coming from Asmodee in North America include Gosu Tactics (available as of Nov. 14), Timeline: Diversity and Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective (both with a Nov. 21 availability date), Serenissima from Ystari (due out Nov. 28), and Eclipse: Rise of the Ancients (releasing on Dec. 19). Panic on Wall Street!, a new version of Masters of Commerce – originally from Grouper Games and now from Marabunta – is due out Jan. 23, 2013.

Due out in February 2013 are Kemet and River Dragons, both from Matagot, and Lady Alice from Hurrican. In the first quarter of 2013, other titles released in the U.S. by Asmodee should include Crazy Circus from GameWorks, Dixit Quest from Libellud, Formula D: Circuits 4 - Baltimore & India from Asmodee, Gentlemen Thieves from Bombyx, and Jungle Speed Black and Jungle Speed Silver, both from Asmodee. Room 25 from Matagot, which has run into custom delays entering Europe, and Expedition Franklin are both expected out in Q2 2013. I don't have more info on titles without links, but will report back when I know more.

Board Game: Star Wars: The Card Game
• Fantasy Flight Games has posted rules (PDF) for Star Wars: The Card Game from designer Eric M. Lang; this title is expected out December 2012. In related news, Italian publisher Giochi Uniti has announced that it will release an Italian version of the game.

WizKids Games has posted a rules overview of Paolo Mori's Batman: Gotham City Strategy Game, due out February 2013.

• Designer Justin Oh has posted on Facebook that Gemblo Mini, a smaller version of Gemblo for only 1-2 players, should hit the Korean market in December 2012. (Editor's note: The title of this game was first announced as Gemblo Duet.)

Board Game: Carcassonne: Mage & Witch
• In the category of "Really? Are you sure?", one of the U.S. distributors lists a November 26, 2012 release date in the U.S. for the Carcassonne mini collection – a six-title collection consisting of The Robber, Mage and Witch, The Goldmines, The Ferries, The Messages, and The Flier, with a Corn Circle tile in each expansion – with Rio Grande Games being the publisher of record.

This is somewhat surprising since in June 2012 Carcassonne owner Hans im Glück announced that it was severing ties with RGG and moving to Z-Man Games as its English-language partner of choice. Z-Man, in fact, has already released HiG's The Palaces of Carrara and Goa, not to mention the base Carcassonne game itself! That said, HiG's Moritz Brunnhofer had told me back in June that RGG would be the publisher of these items. They had vanished from the radar, however, and since the expansions appeared in German, French, Dutch and other languages as early as February 2012, I had been wondering whether the English ones would ever see release. Brunnhofer noted that these expansions will eventually appear under the Z-Man label, but if you want them soon, then go out and grab these because this is definitely a "one-and-done" print run for RGG.
