New Game Round-up: Filosofia's Mid-2012 Release Schedule, Dangerous Eggs & Casus Belli-aching

New Game Round-up: Filosofia's Mid-2012 Release Schedule, Dangerous Eggs & Casus Belli-aching
Board Game Publisher: Filosofia Éditions
• I've pried release dates from Canadian publisher Filosofia for its upcoming French-language publications and have paired that info with release dates for English versions of the same titles:

March 2012
-----• Okay, this is cheating since it's easy to get information on something already available, but L'Âge de Pierre: L'Extension was released in late March 2012 and the English version – Stone Age: Style Is the Goal – from Rio Grande Games has just arrived at distributors in the U.S. and should be in stores soon.

April 2012
-----• Uwe Rosenberg's two-player-only Agricola: Terres d'Élevage, with the German version from Lookout Games due the same month and the English version from Z-Man GamesAgricola: All Creatures Big and Small – expected in June. (English rules (PDF) were recently posted on the Z-Man website.)

May 2012
-----Africana by Michael Schacht, with the English edition coming from Z-Man Games in the same month.
-----• A half-dozen Carcassonne mini-expansions, such as Carcassonne: Mage & Witch, with each containing a few tiles and wooden bits. The German versions were released in February 2012, and at last report the English ones from Rio Grande were due out March/April 2012.

June 2012
-----Goa: Une Nouvelle Expedition, the modestly revised version of this Rüdiger Dorn design, with the English version expected out the same month from Z-Man Games.
-----The Walking Dead: The Board Game under Filosofia's Z-Man Games label (since the Filosofia brand has zero association with zombies).

July 2012
-----Santa Cruz from designer Marcel-André Casasola Merkle.

July/August 2012
-----Atlantis Rising by Galen Ciscell, with the English version through Z-Man Games appearing about the same time.

Board Game: Dragon Rage
• Belgian publisher Flatlined Games has released a pair of special Easter-themed scenarios (PDF) for its new edition of Lewis Pulsipher's Dragon Rage. Scenario 1: Defend the city of Esirien against a ferocious attack by two giant, cuddly bunnies; scenario 2: Destroy the two dragons that have overrun the city along with their half-dozen dragon eggs. Possibly the most unexpected line in any set of rules: "Eggs block line of sight..."

Board Game: Antike Duellum
• As noted in this Spiel 2011 preview article on BGGN, designer Mac Gerdts and publisher PD-Verlag demonstrated a two-player version of Antike titled Casus Belli at Spiel 2011, but had only prototype versions to sell. As of today, the game has still not appeared in print, and German publisher/distributor Heidelberger Spieleverlag has now posted a news item stating that the renamed Antike Duellum will be PD-Verlag's Spiel 2012 release, with the game not appearing before October 2012.

• Spanish publisher nestorgames has released the racing game Top Speed Mini, a simplified derivation of its racing game Top Speed.

• U.S. publisher MindWare has released Travel Qwirkle, a mini-version of its Spiel des Jahres-winning game Qwirkle with 3/4" wood tiles packed in a zippered pouch.

• Let's close with the almost de rigueur Kickstarter title, this time choosing We Didn't Playtest This: Legacies, which was announced by Asmadi Games on April 1, 2012. While this mash-up of Asmadi's We Didn't Playtest This At All and Hasbro's Risk Legacy certainly appeared to be a joke – with the full-on chaos of the game play, cards having blank spaces to be filled in by the game winner, and "a top secret pack of cards that you do not open until twenty cards have owners" – the game is indeed real. In fact, it caught the attention of Risk Legacy designer Rob Daviau, who tweeted "Wonder if this will be at GenCon? I'll have to pick it up." (KS link)
