New Game Round-up: Carson City Large and Small, Zombicide in Space, and Estonian History Replayed
Board Game: Carson City: Big Box
Board Game: Carson City: The Card Game
• Dutch publisher Quined Games has announced a couple of new releases and reprints due out in Q2 2018, starting with a new edition of Xavier Georges' Carson City: Big Box, which was first released in 2015.

Quined's Paul Mulders notes that this reprint is "a hybrid between the earlier released Retail- and Kickstarter versions of the game", with the lawyer/editor anniversary character now being included in the box instead of being a promo and with wooden mountains, guns, horses, and houses being included in the box instead of their cardboard counterparts. This version also has a sturdier box that will be sold separately through the Quined webshop for those who want to rebox their existing game (with custom inserts still fitting since the internal dimensions remain the same).

• Aside from this reprint, Quined will release Georges' Carson City: The Card Game, a 1-6 player trick-taking, city-building game that plays in 30-45 minutes. An overview:

Quote:
In Carson City: The Card Game, each player is in charge of developing a city. You and your opponents try to choose the most lucrative parcels of land and buildings, then place these parcels and buildings wisely so as to make your city as prosperous as possible. You can also win the support and gain the help of the most influential people in the city. Do not ignore your opponents as they will try to make the best moves in your stead, with a trick-taking mechanism determining who goes first in each round.
• In Q2 2018, Quined Games will also have a reprint of Mike Keller's Agra and an English-language version of Johannes Sich's La Cosa Nostra: Guns For Hire, with Dutch, French, and German rules available on its website.

Board Game: Zombicide: Invader
CMON Limited has announced the subject of its next Kickstarter campaign: Zombicide Invader, with this being a design by Raphaël Guiton, Jean-Baptiste Lullien, and Nicolas Raoult and a co-production with Guillotine Games. Here's an overview of what's going on in the box:

Quote:
Humans set off into the stars in search of high-powered fuel and found it in the remote corner of the universe on the small planet PK-L7. Their discovery of Xenium — a dark, oily compound deep below the planet's surface — was everything they hoped for. But they found something else, too. The Xenos attack was brutal and unrelenting. While the scientists and soldiers have held them off the best they could, the Xenos are still coming...

Zombicide: Invader is a cooperative game in which 1-6 players face Xenos, an unfathomable swarm of infected Xenos controlled by the game itself. Each player takes on the role of one to six survivors in a sci-fi setting being overwhelmed by these Xenos. The goal is simple: Choose a mission, complete its objectives, kill as many Xenos as possible, and (most importantly) survive!

Survivors will fight Xenos, rescue each other, recover vital data, unveil dark secrets, and much more! Survivors can be civilians or soldiers, each with specialized skills. They all play together as a team, trading equipment, and covering each other. They use whatever weapons they can get to kill Xenos and slow the invasion. The better the weapon, the higher the body count, but the more Xenos will appear, attracted by the onslaught! Survivors must also be mindful of their location as conventional weapons work fine indoors, but the planet’s oxygen-starved surface, they'll need to arm themselves with more specialized weaponry. Lasers, anyone?

Most of the time, Xenos are predictable, but there are a lot of them and they use nasty tactics not encountered in previous Zombicide games. Only through cooperation can players achieve the Mission objectives and win.
Board Game: 1918: Death on the Rails
• Estonian publisher 2D6.EE has a new title for 2018 built around events that took place one hundred years earlier. Here's the setting of Aigar Alaveer and Martti Lauri's 1918: Death on the Rails:

Quote:
After the capitulation of Imperial Germany in 1918, German representatives formally handed over political power to the Estonian Provisional Government. On 16 November 1918, an order was given by the Russian Red Army HQ to follow the retreating German units. On 28 November 1918, the 6th Red Rifle Division struck the border town of Narva, which marked the beginning of the Estonian War of Independence.

1918: Death on the Rails is a challenging, fast-paced block wargame for two players that reflects the struggle between the Estonian and the Russian SFSR units during the Estonian War of Independence. In the game, you maneuver units on a hex map, trying to be the first to achieve the different scenario goals.

When playing 1918: Death on the Rails, it becomes clear just how significant the role of Estonian armored trains was during this defining period in Estonian history.
