Manor of Ravens and the Manor-Born Lieutenant Skarn Join Descent Second Edition in Q3 2014

Manor of Ravens and the Manor-Born Lieutenant Skarn Join Descent Second Edition in Q3 2014
Board Game: Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Manor of Ravens
Fantasy Flight Games has announced a pair of new expansions for Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition), one being the new boxed set Manor of Ravens that brings six new quests, 16 double-sided map tiles and more into the game as players "travel to a haunted manor house and battle the guardian that waits within", a manor house also filled with giant killer ravens, no doubt. Here's a summary of what's in the box:

Quote:
The overlord gains a host of new material in this expansion, including two new classes of Overlord cards, new monsters, and deadly new relics that can be wielded by monsters. The overlord even gains his first servant: a creature that can be summoned into play, similar to the heroes' familiar. The heroes also receive powerful new assets in Manor of Ravens, gaining access to two new heroes as well as new hero classes for Warriors and Scouts.

A new lieutenant also enters the scene as the heroes attempt to investigate the manor house. Skarn is a magical construct, composed of pieces of the manor house and possessed of limitless potential. If Skarn is not stopped he could continue to grow and eventually overwhelm the world. Only your heroes stand between this magical creature and the demise of Terrinoth.

And speaking of Skarn, FFG also has a standalone Skarn Lieutenant Pack in the works, with both items due out Q3 2014. In addition to allowing you to toss the lieutenant token in favor of a large, twisty plastic figure, this L.P. includes a ten-card Plot deck (along with some required tokens) that lets you "spread Skarn's regenerative abilities to the monsters under your command". In more detail:

Quote:
This Plot deck also gives you the opportunity to unleash Skarn on Terrinoth by summoning him into battle as your agent in any quest that does not include him as a lieutenant. In battle, heroes will find Skarn a powerful opponent, resilient to damage and able to mend his own wounds in the heat of combat. What's more, Skarn's attacks frequently damage more than one hero, possibly threatening an entire hero party at once if they move in too close.
