Here's a short description of this design from Nick Seddon, Aron West, and Elzra:
In the game, players assume the role of a captain charged with rallying their forces to defend the Citadel from a catacomb lord that has emerged from the monster pit with the intent of enslaving them. Players must visit various districts in the Citadel to recruit brave warriors, consult with wise wizards, meet brave heroes, and find weapons to help them meet the challenge posed by the monster pit. Meanwhile, one of the catacomb lords moves inexorably towards the city gates with the promise of certain doom.
The game features an innovative dice system, tableau building, and deep strategy. It can be played solo with a single captain, and a fifth player can join the game by controlling the catacomb lord.
HiG's Frederic Diebold tells me that in addition to an updated cover and a redesigned rulebook, the tiles have changed a little bit to match those in the 20th anniversary edition of the game. Adds Diebold, "The insert of the game is now made of carton paper, so the tiles will not fall around while shaking the box."
• What's more, the Carcassonne base game is also getting a refreshed look, with this new version due for release in Germany before the end of 2021, but it's not clear from first appearances whether anything inside the box will change. I've asked the publisher for details.
Update, Dec. 2, 2021: Aside from the new cover and a redesigned rulebook, the tiles will also match those of the 20th Anniversary edition, being slightly more rounded at the corners.
• CMON Limited has been teasing its fiftieth Kickstarter project for weeks, and the game at the heart of this project has turned out to be Marvel Zombies: A Zombicide Game, effectively serving as a crossover between the Marvel Zombies comic series (which was transformed into a "What If...?" episode) and CMON's best-known and longest-lived title Zombicide.
In this design from Fabio Cury and Michael Shinall, you play as infected superheroes who are trying to satisfy your hunger and complete game-based objectives. The designers go into some detail about the gameplay in the presentation included below, while also keeping things hidden so that folks can go bonkers over reveals in the Kickstarter once it gets underway.
