U.S. publisher Stronghold Games has announced a trio of forthcoming releases related to its Core Worlds deck-building game from designer Andrew Parks, all due out in Q4 2014. To start with, Core Worlds: Revolution — co-designed with Sara Sterphone — adds nearly one hundred cards to the game, including:

• Three new heroes: Captain Alexander, the Prophet, and Duke Magnus
• Three unique "Heroic Tactics" cards for the new and existing heroes, with these cards forming a separate Heroic Deck next to the player's regular deck
• Advancements that can be built on conquered worlds, including Cosmic Terraformers, Wormhole Generators, and Dark Energy Power Cores

In addition to this, Stronghold Games is working with BrokenMyth Studios to release Core Worlds Digital, a digital implementation of the game that's scheduled to debut at the same time as Core Worlds: Revolution. From the press release:

Quote:
Core Worlds Digital will provide a new venue for experiencing this great game. Core Worlds Digital will not only give the ability to play Core Worlds remotely, but it will allow for a new streamlined, interactive, and engaging cinematic experience for all users. Core Worlds Digital will include multiplayer support via Game Center, AI opponents, pass-and-play, tournament play, match play, in-game rewards, limited edition cards, and in-app purchases that will allow you to customize the look and feel of your deck. Core Worlds Digital will be initially released for the iOS platform.
BrokenMyth and Stronghold are launching a Kickstarter campaign related to Core Worlds Digital in April 2014, and this campaign "will offer unique support levels and incentives that will only be available on Kickstarter".

Finally, Stronghold is overseeing the release of a Core Worlds web comic on Inkbot.Net, with the first ten-page story debuting in Q4 2014 and introducing characters and events of the Core World universe as well as potential plot lines. Every six weeks after that, a new five-page installment will be published, with feedback from readers being taken into consideration for the content of future chapters.
