Now Pandasaurus and Suganuma are partnering again for Machi Koro 2, a standalone game that features the same gameplay as the original design — roll dice, earn money, buy building cards, acquire landmarks — but with more variety in terms of how each game plays out.
Specifically, building cards are separated into three decks — 1-6, 7-12, and landmarks — and for each deck, you flip cards into the center of the table until five different cards are revealed. (Duplicates are stacked atop one another.) When a slot opens in the row after someone buys a card, you then flip another card from that deck, stacking duplicates until you again have five different cards available.
The game starts with three initial building rounds in which you spend coins to choose the first buildings in your towns. Landmarks each have unique effects and can be built in any order, with the cost of a landmark varying depending on whether it's the first, second, or third that you build.
Machi Koro 2 is for 2-5 players, retails for US$30, and has a scheduled release date of October 6, 2021.
