German publisher Lookout Games has announced that at SPIEL '22 it will release Agricola 15, a huge 15th anniversary edition of Uwe Rosenberg's Agricola, which surprised the entire gaming world when it debuted at SPIEL '07.
Agricola 15 packs a lot of material created since the game's debut into a single XXL box: the Agricola (Revised Edition) base game, the Artifex and Bubulcus expansion decks, promo items that were previously long gone, some novelties — as Lookout teases: "no, you don't have all the L-Deck cards yet..." — and a well-organized inlay for quick set-up.
In total, Agricola 15 contains 430 cards, more than 200 tokens, and more than 270 wooden components. Lookout's Sabine Laure-Müller notes that Agricola 15 will be compatible with the Farmers of the Moor expansion — which will be reprinted before the end of 2022 — and the Expansion for 5 and 6 Players.
I'll note that Hanno's teach for Agricola at SPIEL '07 was a revelation. He kept it simple and taught it like a videogame in that he mostly addressed your immediate needs: "You might need wood to build something or perhaps an animal to start breeding or maybe food to eat. Which one of these three spots do you want to choose?" The goal was not to win in the best manner possible, but to experience the game, to live it. If you enjoyed what just happened, you'd buy the game — in German only, mind you — and could worry about getting better later.
Some experiences really stick with you...
