Loot Island (2017)

Loot Island is a card-driven treasure hunt set on a cursed island where cooperation is necessary—but never safe. Long ago, pirates hid their riches on the island, protected by dark magic that punishes the careless and rewards only those who act at the right moment. Now, fragments of those lost treasure maps have resurfaced, and competing treasure hunters race to uncover what remains buried.

Each round, players commit map cards to different landings around the island, slowly piecing together routes that may reveal hidden treasure. Loot is only discovered when enough matching map fragments are played, forcing players to work together to make progress. However, when exploration begins, rewards are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis—turning cooperation into immediate competition.

This constant tension defines Loot Island. Contributing too little may leave a landing unexplored, but contributing too much risks helping opponents profit more than you do. Players must carefully read the table, judge when to support a shared effort, and decide when to push their luck for a bigger share of the treasure.

Timing, interaction, and a touch of uncertainty shape every round. Success comes from finding the right balance between teamwork and rivalry, managing limited resources, and navigating the ever-present threat of the island’s curse. In the end, only the player who secures the most valuable treasures—and survives the island’s dark magic—will emerge victorious.
