In Coin Quest, players are elite coin collectors competing in a series of hidden auctions to acquire rare and valuable coins. Each round, new coins enter the market, and every player secretly prepares a bid using coins drawn from their personal collection pouch.
Rounds are played simultaneously. After drawing coins, players may trigger special abilities such as gaining immediate prestige, drawing extra coins, removing weaker coins from circulation, or disrupting opponents. Players then allocate all drawn coins face down across multiple auction lots, deciding where to compete aggressively and where to concede.
Once bids are revealed, each auction lot is resolved using a strict value hierarchy: gold first, then silver, then copper. The strongest bid wins the lot. Some lots award powerful new coins, while others grant immediate prestige instead. Losing bids are discarded, forcing players to carefully manage which coins they are willing to sacrifice.
After auctions are resolved, winning players may spend prestige to purchase additional market coins, further refining their collection and setting up future rounds. Over time, decks evolve as coins cycle through pouches and discard piles, creating long-term planning opportunities and tactical surprises.
The game ends when the auction pouch is empty and no new coins can be added to the market. Players then score final prestige.
Final scoring includes:
Prestige already earned during the game
Bonus prestige from high-quality coins
Majority bonuses from mint mark collections, rewarding players who collected the most coins of specific origins
The player with the highest total prestige wins. In case of a tie, players compare total copper value, then silver, then gold to determine the winner.
