Barren Victory - The Battle of Chickamauga September 19th & 20th, 1863, examines the events of September 19th and 20th, 1863—The Battle of Chickamauga. This action was one of the few in the Civil War where the South actually outnumbered the Federals. The battle was closely fought and the game recaptures the spirit of the struggle for victory. After the disasters at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, the South's hope was to secure one decisive victory in the west. Large portions of the Army of Northern Virginia were detached to bolster the hard-luck Army of Tennessee. After being maneuvered out of Chattanooga without a fight, Braxton Bragg's army struck the Union forces under Rosecrans on the Chickamauga Creek. The bloody battle of Chickamauga ensued...
